I launched my career in project management of electrical installations (cabling) for industrial customers (Ceratec). Two years later, I started in the utility sector where I spend 5 years in field/grid operations (REGIE and WVEM). When energy markets got liberalised, I took a commercial role for 5 years (Luminus and SPE) and finally moved to the trading department for another 5 years because of the merger between the commercial entity Luminus and the producer of electricity SPE. I worked in fast changing environments and got many opportunities to develop my skills and change job. After 15 years in the energy industry, I wanted to discover a new industry and spend 4 years into the environmental branch of the Suez Group (SITA) were I went back to an operational/logistics role as Regional Director, responsible for waste collection and pre-recycling activities in Flanders. Four years later, being headhunted for this role, I went to work in the elevator and escalator business where I was CEO of the 6 legal entities of the Schindler holding BeNeLux I did not like this role as much; when the Benelux structure split, I decided to leave the Schindler group to take responsibility for one of the Belgian subsidiary entities at BESIX Group. To day, I am the Managing Director of BESIX Unitec nv.
