The Open Networking Foundation (ONF) is a operator-driven, community-led non-profit consortium fostering and democratizing innovation in software-defined programmable networks. Through ecosystem building, advocacy, research and education, ONF is accelerating the state-of-the-art in open networking and catalyzing creation and adoption of open disaggregated solutions leveraging open source software.
ONF’s VOLTHA is an open source project for PON broadband access equipment supporting the principle of multi-vendor, disaggregated “any broadband access as a service” for the Central Office. VOLTHA is in production at leading carriers: Deutsche Telekom, Turk Telekom, and in field trials/deployment at Comcast, Jio and Telefonica.
