In face of the dire and urgent humanitarian crisis caused by the military conflict in Ukraine, one of the most effective ways to help Ukraine and its citizens is to support the relief and humanitarian efforts. The FTTH Council Europe acknowledges the enormous needs of people in Ukraine, and is committed to leveraging the large visibility of the FTTH Conference 2023 to help collecting and delivering humanitarian aid to the Ukraine population.


To this end, we are partnering with a trusted and verified Austrian non-profit organization who is collecting funds to help people on the ground in Ukraine, especially children and families, to mitigate the violent attacks and destruction that the military conflict has caused.

How the Ukraine Emercency Aid project is articulated

Assistance to war-affected civilians in Eastern Ukraine

Don Bosco partners in Lviv have been hosting internally displaced people since the beginning of the war. They take families and orphans under their roof with special attention to mothers and children. 
Jugend Eine Welt is also providing support to the intensive care unit of a childrens hospital in Odessa and to the most war-affected areas in Eastern Ukraine.

Urgent action: Food and medicine provision

Jugend Eine Welt provides food & non-food items and medical supplies (mainly heart and antiviral medications and treatment for diabetics) in the areas of Dnipro, Kharkiv, Lysychansk, Kherson region and other places in the most affected areas. Equipment for food-cooking and heating of homes (cylinders for gas and dry fuel tablets) is provided.

Beneficiaries

1.200 families (in total around 5.000 persons) are supported.

Results

1.200 families in Eastern Ukraine are able to survive and gain hope in a better future through a stream of solidarity.

Duration of support

3 months period

 

The budget needed is € 154.000,- per 3 months period

We at Jugend Eine Welt support our Don Bosco partners in all measures that are pending in their facilities, such as accommodation, nutrition or education for the children. To this end, an experienced emergency aid coordinator from Jugend Eine Welt is now working on site in the border regions of Ukraine, who will quickly assess the respective needs directly at the individual locations and assist with the necessary project planning on site.

 

Colleagues and partners of Jugend Eine Welt engage at the borders to Ukraine and in selected locations within Ukraine in order to help people who are affected by the war. Food, shelter and medical aid is being provided. We also assist people in war zones to flee and find shelter in the neighbouring countries.
